About the chapter
IEC Florida First Coast is forming now. This page is where the mission, the board and the staff get named as those decisions are made, not after.
Our mission
IEC Florida First Coast exists to train, represent and connect independent electrical contractors across Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau and Baker counties. We do that by running a real apprenticeship school, keeping licensed electricians current on code and safety, and giving member companies a standing forum for the problems none of them can solve alone.
The chapter is merit shop. Members compete against each other for work on Monday and sit on the same training committee on Tuesday, because the alternative, every company training in isolation, has already failed this market.

The national organization
The Independent Electrical Contractors is the national trade association for merit-shop electrical and systems contractors. It has been in the apprenticeship business for decades, and its four-year curriculum is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor and used by chapters across the country.
That matters for a chapter starting from zero: IEC Florida First Coast doesn’t have to invent a curriculum, write its own exams, or convince anyone the credential is real. We adopt the national program, hire and certify instructors against national standards, and an apprentice who moves to another IEC city transfers cleanly.
National also carries the advocacy load in Washington and supplies member benefit programs (insurance, safety resources, business tools) that a [N]-member chapter could never negotiate on its own.
Leadership
Every seat below is currently open. The executive committee and board are elected by the founding contractor members at the chartering meeting; staff are hired by the board after that. Cards fill in as the seats are filled.

We’re hiring instructors.
Every IEC instructor is a working or retired licensed electrician who teaches one night a week. If you hold a [license type] license and want to teach, the chapter is building its instructor bench now, ahead of the first class.
Compensation: [rate TBD] · Commitment: [N] evenings/week, [months]
Charter membership is open
Founding members set the training calendar, the class locations and the dues structure for the whole chapter. Once the first apprentice class seats, those decisions are made.
